“Independence Day” by Jim Long
Rockets give way great burst and fill the sky,
It is with great beauty that they catch my eye.
And it is Independence Day cross the nation,
And it is with freedom that we man our station.
Pride it what we feel that our nation has our heart,
And we look into the depth of the future for a start.
Will our nation survive, Indeed I say yes it will,
For two hundred plus years we are here still.
A novel approach and it would succeed unparalleled,
A country with all immigrants together all held.
With our differences did we loose hold so tight,
That we would grow and were a distant light.
We try to help others to the way we became,
So all people could be free and equal the same,
As we hold tight to the Bill of Rights to all,
That our forefathers did in their minds had saw.
