Home Jim Long's Writings Jim's Poetry Prayer for the lost

Matthew 22:36-40

36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘you shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.

Jim Long's Writing's - Jim's Poetry

Oh Glorious King and Lord above

Listen my prayer a plea of love

Ours a winding road of choices

It is all our plea of many voices

We try not to abandon our fellow

Sometimes anger hate we bellow

We do try but many despair cry

We at times never do rightly try

Oh Heavenly Father hark thy heart

From us we ask You do not depart

We failed but did do our best here

Thy Kingdom is to us ever so near

Travesty, majesty, we contemplate

Sometimes free choice others fate

Cries of children and downtrodden

Live in our hearts never forgotten

Oh Lord I pray for misguided the lost

Without them with You a high cost

Love thy neighbor and thy enemy told

I think in Christ’s Love I must be bold

Desperation incineration failure us

It is of little consequence trivial fuss

I pray the lost soon found forgiven

This my prayer I plead and am driven

In Christ Jesus, Jim +
