Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the Lent season. It is a time of repentance and fasting for 40 days in preparation for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. These ashes represent “Penance made sacramental by the blessing of the Church, and they help us develop a spirit of humility and sacrifice,” as reported by Catholic Online. Ashes are created from the palms used in last year’s Palm Sunday season and followers will receive the sign of the cross marked on their foreheads by their pastor. He Came down and walked among us, and Died; and was Buried and Resurrected. Why because God can bring Himself to Life and back to Himself? Would that make sense for God to Prove His Divinity for us? Did He Promise something and ask Something while He was here?

I don’t know actually much more and I have been silent much too long. I need you tonight to pray for your Muslim (Islamic) brothers and sisters. Throughout their world governments are toppling, there are a number of nations that might like assistance in a governmental change. We hear of wars and rumors of wars, but life is being lost; freedom for those in even the countries that won freedom during the Arab Spring are continually to have issues. They are not unlike the newly forming United States in the late 18th century. We, as individuals, can’t really do anything but in our hearts, not just in words, offer our hand in friendship. We can’t stop dictators from killing their own; we can’t stop the violence that engulfs the Islamic World from Africa to the Near East. But we are able to do one thing as is most prominently found by Christ’s Words to Love one another.

Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent starts: the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. It's a day of penitence, to clean the soul, and a day of celebration as the last chance to feast before Lent begins.When a person receives absolution for their sins, they are forgiven for them and released from the guilt and pain that they have caused them. It is a day of celebration as well as penitence, because it's the last day before Lent. During Lent there are many foods that some Christians - historically and today - would not eat: foods such as meat and fish, fats, eggs, and milky foods. So that no food was wasted, families would have a feast on the shriving Tuesday, and eat all the foods that wouldn't last the forty days of Lent without going off.
